Help with the Essentials

We recognize that beyond tuition, room and board, students may need access to resources necessary for their success at the University of Delaware. Blue Hen Essentials is a collaboration between the Office of Institutional Equity and Division of Student Life to mitigate the impacts of financial insecurity in our UD community. Some of the services provided include the Student Crisis Fund, a food and supply pantry, the Swipe Out Hunger program and the Clothing Coop.

Essentials or basic needs refers to the most essential resources required to be successful as a student at the University, including access to food, supplies, clothing, stable housing and support in financial crisis.

Donate to the Student Crisis Fund

UD’s Student Crisis Fund supports eligible students who face a serious financial hardship due to unanticipated crisis such as food or home insecurity, travel costs related to a sudden death or illness in the immediate family, out-of-pocket medical costs or replacement of personal belongings due to fire, natural disaster or theft.
