Guiding Our Work
Mission
The Division of Student Life advances equity and inclusion, deepens student learning, and drives holistic development through education, experiences, and communities.
Vision
Lead a dynamic student experience and vibrant campus culture so all Blue Hens thrive throughout their lives.
Values
As the Division of Student Life pursues excellence, these values guide our interactions, our decision-making and ultimately the collective culture we build that enables us to achieve our vision and mission:
- Amplify Student Voice
Students and their success are central to the University’s mission. We commit to ongoing engagement with students so that we can include and promote their voice in our endeavors. - Pursue Equity
We actively seek to remove barriers to fair participation in Student Life programs and initiatives and commit to influence institutional change toward a more equitable and just student experience. - Transformational Collaboration
Recognizing that we accomplish more by working together, we will deepen partnerships across the Division and throughout campus to elevate our collective work. - Learning and Innovation
We strive to be a learning organization characterized by critical thinking, reflection, curiosity, generating knowledge, and taking risks. We expect our individual and shared learning will fuel change toward innovation. - Integrity and Respect
We demonstrate integrity through our interactions with one another and strive to respect and uplift all colleagues and students. When we fall short of this ideal, we courageously hold one another accountable.
High-Priority Initiatives
Student Life team members contribute to our division's priorities:
- Moving forward our Advancing Racial Equity & Inclusion plan
- Opening the Center for Intercultural Engagement
- A new office for Community Standards and Conflict Resolution to support educational opportunities around restorative justice and conflict prevention
- Providing access to 24/7 virtual mental health support through TimelyCare
- Developing a multi-office WE CARE team to support student athletes in distress
- Assessing and improving the student experience with the Student Experience Master Plan
Portfolios
Student Life is organized into five programmatic and three operational portfolios.

- Student Wellbeing
- Post-Graduate and Student Success Integration
Operational

The student experience, we believe, will continue to be a differentiator for college-going students in the coming decade. We work to stay fresh and invite new ways of conceiving of student affairs on campus.
Vice President for Student Life

I love working at UD because of the supportive, positive, and collaborative environments created within the Division of Student Life! I always appreciate how everyone is willing to help, not afraid to try something new, or willing to support a program when needed.
Kelli Murray
Assistant Director, Orientation & Transition Programs
I love working for the University of Delaware Division of Student Life because I like contributing to initiatives that support the holistic development of our students. Doing good work with like-minded people who are dedicated to our students’ growth and positive experiences makes my work feel less like a job and more like a valued mission.
