Volunteer Shout-Outs - March 2026
The Office of Development and Alumni Relations relies on a team of dedicated Blue Hen volunteers to strengthen the connections between alumni, students and the University through a variety of programs and events. Volunteers' many contributions include planning and helping to lead regional, affinity and reunion events, offering mentorship and professional development opportunities to students and serving as proud ambassadors of UD.
Here, we regularly spotlight volunteers that enhance the UD experience for students and alumni.

Martin Mitchell, AS91
"I benefited from the alumni before me and want to repay that to the current students."
Martin has a long history of giving back to the University of Delaware through a wide range of volunteer roles. Currently, he serves on the University of Delaware Alumni Association (UDAA) Board of Directors, where he contributes his time and expertise as a member of the Awards Committee.
Martin also supports the Blue Hen community as a DC Regional Blue Hen Ambassador, planning and attending events that bring Blue Hens together throughout the Washington, D.C. area. In addition, he has served on his 25th and 30th Class Reunion Committees, helping to plan milestone celebrations and encourage classmates to return to campus or participate virtually.
Later this month, Martin will volunteer at an Admissions yield event, where he will connect with admitted students and their families and share his Blue Hen experience.
An enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer and proud Blue Hen, Martin is also a member of the True-Blue Hen and Delaware Diamonds Giving Societies.
Let’s hear from Martin:
Why I Give Back: I benefited from the alumni before me and want to repay that to the current students. I enjoy volunteering for alumni events to meet other Blue Hens for the camaraderie and learning about their experiences at UD.
