Canvas/Kaltura video player update

On April 24, 2026, the Kaltura video player used in Canvas will be upgraded Version 7
The Canvas and Kaltura video player will update from Version 2 (V2) to Version 7 (V7) on April 24, 2026. This update addresses accessibility requirements and ensures compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 Level AA).
Videos embedded in Canvas course sites using the built-in embed tool through the Rich Content Editor will update automatically.
Action required:
Videos embedded using custom embed codes — within Canvas or on other websites — must be updated manually. This includes videos shared through MyMedia/Capture Space as well as YouTube. Please follow the instructions online to find and replace your existing video embed codes.
