Housing Support, transportation and Utilities
Any student struggling to maintain access to adequate housing or utilities should contact Student Advocacy & Support at studentsupport@udel.edu for a consultation. In addition, below are some resources that may be applicable to your situation.
On-Campus Resources
Residence Hall Housing and Housing Between Semesters
Residence Life & Housing is able to meet with you to discuss your on-campus housing options. Our office can assist in that discussion and advocate for options. It is important to note that students must be involved with the University in some capacity to live in our residence halls over the Winter and Summer sessions.
UD Transportation Shuttle Service
Transportation Services offers a shuttle service for students who are traveling from campus to their nearby off-campus residences. This service is available from 6 p.m.–1 a.m., seven days a week. The four pickup points are:

UDPD Safety Escort Service
A free, 24/7 safety escort service is available for students, staff and faculty from any University property or contiguous street, and specific areas off campus.
To arrange for an escort, please call 302-831-RIDE (7433), use your LiveSafe app, or use one of the more than 200 blue light emergency phones located throughout campus.
Community Resources
Newark Area Support for Housing Needs
Resources for low-cost housing are available outside the University and in the local Newark area.
Friendship House’s (FH) mission is to unite people facing homelessness with loving, supportive communities they can call home. FH works with people in various stages of life. They operate a Clothing Bank, 5 Empowerment Centers (one in Newark), and a Transitional Housing program.

- DART Student Fares
Get 50% off DART fares using the DART Pass Mobile App and your student ID. - AMTRAK Student Discounts
Students between ages 17–24 have the chance to save 15% on purchases made one day in advance. The discount will automatically be applied when qualifying travel is selected. Or, use the Amtrak app and enter code V814 when booking your trip.

- Demand Response Transportation
Safe, friendly, origin to destination service available on a first come, first served basis to the general public, seniors and persons with disabilities. Trips are by reservation only. - Reimbursement for Taxi and Rideshare Services
Registered participants of The Cecil County Transportation Reimbursement Program can apply for a limited amount of reimbursement, with proper documentation and receipts, for taxi and/or TNC (Uber/Lyft) transportation services each fiscal year (July–June).
