The Apartment Assistant was created to combine the RA position and the Clubhouse Assistant position. Since the work that is done at UCA is different from some of the other areas, we wanted to make things more uniform. Apartment Assistants will be on-call from 7pm-7am and will work a minimum 8 hours a week in the Clubhouse to handle mail, residents' issues, administrative responsibilities etc. Apartment Assistants together will do about 2-3 community wide events each semester and still continue to support residents as needed.
Apartment Assistants will receive a stipend of $2,000 with an apartment in UCA share by other Apartment Assistants. Apartment Assistants are not required to purchase a meal plan.
No, candidates are not required to attend an information session. However, these sessions are highly encouraged and provide everyone with a strong understanding of the Apartment Assistant role.
First, be sure to attend an info session! You can also attend a resume and interview preparation workshop through the Career Center.
Spend some time considering how your involvement in clubs, internships, employment and academic experiences can translate to being a successful AA.
It could; everyone is a little different. The AA position includes a room waiver and a stipend. We encourage all candidates who have questions about their financial aid to consult with Student Financial Services prior to accepting the AA position to better understand how it could impact their aid package.
All applicants will be asked to provide a resume and answer several short essay questions. We strongly recommend completing the questions in a Word or Google doc, then copying/pasting your essays into the application.
No, changes cannot be made to an application after it has been submitted.
Interviews will take place virtually during winter session. Successful applicants will receive an email regarding scheduling their interview. Please review the Selection Timeline at the top of this page for an overview of the timeframe.
Please contact raselection@udel.edu as soon as possible if you cannot attend your scheduled interview time. We ask applicants to hold all possible interview dates and times until you select your specific time slot.
If you want to live on campus regardless of whether or not you are offered an AA position, you must complete the housing application by the deadline. Details about the housing application deadlines and process can be found on our Application Guide. More information about returning student housing can be found on our Current Students page.
Apartment Assistants need to maintain a minimum semester and cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5.
Apartment Assistants will work a minimum of 8 hours per week and there will be a weekly staff meeting on Wednesdays at 7:30pm starting Fall 2025. As such, all staff are expected to keep their schedules clear during this time and cannot schedule classes or outside commitments that would interfere with this requirement. If there is a major class conflict, or academic related concern, they will need to bring that to their supervisor prior to the start of Fall 2025.
Interview Process
Apartment Assistant interviews will be virtual interviews via Zoom.
