2025 Move-in information
Welcome to our new, incoming graduate students! Students will be sent an email with their move-in date, time, and location. The move-in date is dependent on the selection made on your application.
- Students' move-in date will depend on the date they selected in their application. Students can find their move-in date in an email they received from our office with their assignment information.
- Students will receive their housing assignment via email approximately two weeks before their move-in date.
- All graduate students will check in at the University Courtyard Apartment's Clubhouse (main office), located at 1 Scholar Drive, Newark, DE, 19711. Students can check in between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on their assigned day. Students who cannot check in between these hours on their assigned day should email reslife-housing@udel.edu, and we will try to accommodate the request.
- Students must pick up their ONEcard (student ID) before they move in. Visit the ONEcard website for more information and their office hours.
- Students who are bringing a car to campus will need to purchase a University of Delaware parking permit. Permits can be purchased online through University of Delaware Parking Services. Students who will have a car on-campus during move-in must pay for metered parking in the area.

The priority deadline for the 2025–2026 graduate housing application is Monday, June 30, 2025, at 5 p.m. The application will remain open until spaces are filled.
Housing for graduate students is not guaranteed.
Our ability to guarantee housing for graduate students will be dependent upon the number of applications received. If the number of applications exceeds the available spaces, we will give priority to first-time students arriving this fall and to students whose permanent address is the farthest distance from campus.
Housing is only available for individual students. We do not have housing for students with partners/families. If a graduate student has a partner/spouse who is also a new graduate student, we will do our best to house them together, but each space is billed per person.
Graduate students will be housed in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment located in our University Courtyard Apartment building 600. A diagram of the apartment is also available.
The location is 600 Scholar Drive, Newark, DE, 19711.
Each apartment contains basic furniture but does not include items like linens or kitchenware. Individual housing for residents includes the following furniture:
Bedroom Furniture: full-sized bed, desk with chair, dresser and walk-in closet
Living Room Furniture: couch, chair and coffee table
Kitchen Furniture: two counter-height stools
Overhead lighting is in each room and all windows have blinds.
Bathrooms have a shower curtain rod and a heavy-duty plastic liner.
Full-sized appliances: washer, dryer, refrigerator, oven/range, dishwasher and microwave.
Rent is monthly and rates for the 2025–2026 academic year will be available soon.
The following utilities are included in the rent: electric, heating, cooling (air conditioning), water and internet (wi-fi).
Parking is not included but ample parking is available near the building and individual parking permits can be purchased through University of Delaware Parking Services.
Notices will be sent to students via email to their @udel.edu email address on a rolling basis.
Students who are guaranteed housing will have three business days to decline housing without fee. After three business days, guaranteed students will be subject to release fees if their request for release is approved. Release is not guaranteed.
Students will have three contract-start/move-in date options:
- Tuesday, July 15, 2025
- Saturday, July 26, 2025
- Monday, August 18, 2025
Students will be billed based on the move contract start date that is on or before their move-in date. For example, if a student moves in on July 20, they will be billed beginning July 15.
Students are billed on the first of the month to the student’s UD financial account.
Students who select a July 15 or July 26 contract start will be billed on August 1, 2025 for July and August.
Students who select the August 18 contract start will be billed on September 1, 2025 for August and September.
Housing ends on Monday, June 1, 2026. Students will not be permitted to renew and will need to move out on or before June 1, 2026.
Students have continuous access to their space from the first date of their contract until the end of the contract. There’s no need to move out of your apartment during breaks or Winter Session.
Yes, even if a student is not staying during Winter Session, rent is still owed as this is a continuous contract.
There is a space in the housing application to request a roommate. Roommates are not guaranteed and your requested roommate must also request you in their housing application.
