Processes in Residence Life & Housing that are coming soon or are open now

Students living in the residence halls (except apartments) should plan to leave the halls no later than 7 p.m. on Friday, November 22 when halls close for the break. If you need to request a late stay or plan to stay on campus any portion of the break, you'll need to fill out the Thanksgiving Break application in the My Housing Portal available from October 16-November 21 at 5 p.m. Apartment residents will keep access to their unit during the break and don't need to check out or complete a break application. Learn more about Thanksgiving Break processes on the Application Guide page.

Winter Session Housing is offered to eligible students from January 2–February 1, 2025. It's a great time for students to earn additional credits or participate in co-curricular opportunities.

The Winter Session housing application will open in the My Housing Portal on October 22 with a priority deadline of December 3 at 5 p.m. Applications submitted after the priority deadline may result in delayed processing and communication from our office. Learn about eligibility, how to apply and more on the Application Guide page

Students living in the residence halls (except apartments) should plan to leave the halls within 24 hours of their last final exam and no later than Monday, December 16 at 10 p.m. when residence halls close for December Break. If you need to request a late stay (no fee), or plan to stay on campus for any part of the break (fee required), you'll need to complete the December Break application in the My Housing Portal by Thursday, December 12. Apartment residents who are returning for spring will automatically retain access to their room during the break and don't need to check out or complete a break application. Learn more about December Break processes on the Application Guide page.

Students new to the university in the spring or who don’t already live on campus in the fall can apply to move into the residence halls for the Spring semester. Newly admitted spring freshmen, freshman transfers and first year World Scholars returning from study abroad are required to live on campus in the spring and are guaranteed housing. All other interested students not already living on campus in the fall are not guaranteed spring housing and will be offered a space pending availability.

The housing application opens in the My Housing Portal in early November with a priority deadline of December 12 at 5 p.m. Learn more about spring housing in the Application Guide.

The returning student housing application for the 2025-2026 academic year is expected to open in the first week of the Spring 2025 semester. While housing is not automatically guaranteed for returning students, we hope to be able to house all students who apply by the posted deadline. Additional information about the application and assignment process will be posted to our website closer to that time, but basic questions about returning student housing can be found on our Current Students page.
