Benefits of working with UD
OEIP is a unit of UD’s Research Office. As such, we can coordinate with industry on:
A license agreement gives a company rights to use, commercialize and sell products emerging from the technology. A typical license agreement includes the following elements:
- Licensed Technology
- Scope (Exclusive or Non-Exclusive)
- Licensed Territory
- Field of Use
- Licensing Fee
- Development Period/Diligence
- Patent Reimbursement
- Minimum and/or Running Royalties
- Milestone Payments
An option agreement provides the company rights to evaluate a technology for a limited period of time (option period) during which we keep open the availability of a license to the company. A standard one-time fee is typically charged.
UD Technology Transfer Office facilitates strategic relationships with corporate partners to support development and commercialization of UD-invented technologies. These partnerships can take many forms including sponsored research, a license, startup formation, or a strategic alliance. Corporate partners interested in the competitive advantage afforded by UD technologies should contact TTO to initiate discussions to acquire commercial rights to the technologies. TTO staff will work with corporate partners efficiently and effectively to negotiate and finalize agreements that enable companies to develop and commercialize UD technologies.
We work with companies to understand their needs and ensure that licenses are consummated as effectively and efficiently as possible.
