Fulbright Students & Visitors
Fulbright students & visitors
The Center for Global Program and Services (CGPS) provides various specialized support for international students and scholars at the University of Delaware, including Fulbright Foreign Students, Visiting Student Researchers, and Fulbright Visiting Scholars. Fulbright visitors usually hold a J-1 visa that is maintained by their sponsor organization, such as IIE or Amideast. As such, sponsoring organizations maintain their SEVIS status in the U.S. and provide immigration guidance. CGPS staff actively liaises with sponsors and offers on-campus support such as orientation programs and engagement opportunities to the students and scholars.
At CGPS, the Associate Director for International Student Engagement and Success acts as a liaison with the sponsors for any immigration or wellbeing concerns for Fulbright Foreign students, while the Assistant Director for Scholar Services acts as a liaison with the sponsors for any immigration or wellbeing concerns for Fulbright Visiting Scholars.
Fulbright Foreign Student Support

- Liaison with Fulbright Advisors & UD Departments
CGPS liaises with advisors from IIE and Amideast with any questions, concerns, or checking in on the students’ while at UD. CGPS will also inform IIE or Amideast if there are any incidents involving a Fulbright student that would require an Incident Report to be sent to the Department of State. CGPS also liaises with the students’ departments at UD with any support.

Some of these events include the weekly International Coffee Hour (held every Friday, 4-6 pm), summer socials, webinars, and other events.
- Orientation Programs
Fulbright Foreign Students and Visiting Student Researchers are invited to attend pre-arrival, upon arrival, and after arrival orientation programs. These include Before You Arrive pre-arrival webinars, the in-person International Student Orientation, and After You Arrive webinars and events. These programs are designed to assist students with their transition to the US and UD.

CGPS creates a Terra Dotta record for Foreign Fulbright Students and Visiting Student Researchers to store their immigration documents. CGPS also updates the students’ immigration information in the University’s record database, UDSIS, to ensure that their immigration information is reflected accurately with the University.
In addition to these specialized support services, Foreign Fulbright Students and Visiting Student Researchers are eligible for all other UD and CGPS support services, including academic, health and wellness, recreational, safety, and cultural services.
