GRADUATING
Completion of your degree is an exciting time, and the beginning of the next step in your life journey. Below you will find some important steps you need to take to close out your time at UD.
Graduation Checklist for Graduating International Students
Prepare for Graduation
During Your Final year:
- Attend an OPT webinar and consider applying for this F-1 employment benefit
- Watch the Klasko webinar: “Visa Options After Graduation: H-1B and Beyond”
- Read more about your grace period
- Make an appointment at the Career Center to discuss your plans after graduation
- Graduate students: check the Steps to Graduation webpage and make sure you have completed the necessary steps and are adhering to the deadlines
- Undergraduate students: refer to the Academic Requirements for Graduation to make sure you are on track to graduate
During Your Final Semester:
- Submit a SEVIS transfer out form if you are transferring to another U.S. institution
- Undergraduate students: make sure any necessary transfer credits are posted
- Fulfill any financial obligations to the University & clear any holds
- Make sure you have requested any recommendations or letters of reference from your professors, advisors, and supervisors
- Attend Everything, Everywhere, All at Once: Navigating Ambiguity and Anxiety Post-Graduation event on April 23
- Attend UD Global Festival on May 16 to celebrate the end of the semester and your graduation
- Collect contact information from friends and individuals in your network
- Review the Life After UD webpage
Prepare for Commencement
- Order your caps, gowns, and sashes on the UD Academic Regalia webpage and pick them up from the Bookstore
- Visit the the UD Commencement webpage to finalize commencement plans
- Discuss commencement plans with your family
After Graduation
- Utilize LinkedIn!
- Update your Education and Biographical information to include your new degree and skills, and connect with your UD community online
- Follow CGPS on LinkedIn and tag us as you post about your career successes
- Connect with the Career Center if you need help with your resume or job search
