Applied Mathematics or Mathematics (MS)
The M.S. degree provides advanced mathematical training at a level beyond a Bachelor's degree. Mathematicians use mathematical models, algorithms, graphs, networks, and other mathematical structures to solve problems in various fields. Thesis and non-thesis options are available.

Art Conservation MS
The Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (WUDPAC) is a graduate-level program jointly sponsored by the University of Delaware and Winterthur Museum. The curriculum is designed to educate and train conservation professionals to carry out the examination, analysis, stabilization and treatment of art and artifacts, speak to general principles of collection care, and have a broad academic background in science and the humanities.

Art History (MA)
Program Educational Goals:
Knowledge of artistic traditions across a wide diversity of times and places, and also a high level of knowledge in one particular area of study, whether chronological, geographical and/or thematic.
The ability to write about works of art clearly and with appropriate attention to such factors as style, iconography, condition, provenance and reception.

Childhood Education in Languages, Literatures and Cultures (MA)
The purpose of the MA in Childhood Foreign Language Education is to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills needed to teach effectively in the dual language immersion classroom. The degree is available in the languages of Chinese and Spanish, the two most widely offered immersion languages in DE secondary schools.

Many of our students continue on to earn a Ph.D. in communication.

The Department of Communication at the University of Delaware offers a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degree that allows students to continue to build their knowledge about the field of communication while preparing them for research-based careers in academia or a communication-related industry. The Ph.D. in communication is taught from a social science perspective, allowing students to increase their knowledge and ability to use theoretically founded, empirically based research methodologies, and a variety of techniques of statistical analysis.

Fine Arts (MFA)
The Department of Art & Design two-year MFA program consists of around twenty students who work together in an intimate environment with faculty and grads from all concentrations and conceptual positions. Studio resources and undergraduate programs include painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and photography.

Interdisciplinary Neuroscience (PhD)
Doctoral students receive interdisciplinary training in contemporary neuroscience while working collaboratively across the University. With the support of their advisors, graduate students develop and complete programs of study in a minimum of four years.

Languages, Literatures and Cultures (MA)
The purpose of the MA in Languages, Literatures and Cultures (MA-LLC) is to provide students with the opportunity for professional growth in the areas of language proficiency, in-depth understanding of literature, civilization and culture as well as research and teaching skills.

Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Pedagogy (MA)
The MA in Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Pedagogy degree affords students the opportunity to continue their foreign language study at the graduate level with the option of working toward teacher certification. It is a flexible degree that can provide students with all the courses required for a teaching certificate in French, Spanish, Chinese or German, except for student teaching.

Linguistics (PhD)
Linguistics doctoral students research social phenomena, focusing on interpersonal, intergroup, motivation, and social cognitive processes. Working closely with faculty mentors, they are trained in methodologies including social neuroscience, psychophysiological, experimental, and big data techniques.

Linguistics and Cognitive Science (MA)
Students pursuing the M.A. in linguistics and cognitive science may specialize in cognitive science, linguistics, or an individualized program. Programs of study include theoretical linguistics, psycholinguistics, and applied linguistics and English as a second language (ESL).

Master of Music in Teaching
Join a community of graduate students while studying with professors with expertise in songwriting, informal music learning, Music Learning Theory, musical creativity and democracy in ensembles, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and musical development in early childhood through adolescence.

Physics (MS/PhD)
We offer a graduate program leading to the Ph.D. or M.S. degree in physics. Nearly all Ph.D. students starting in the program receive funding support as graduate teaching assistants (TAs). More senior Ph.D. students are usually supported from research grants as graduate research assistants (RAs). TA or RA support is not usually available for Masters students.

Political Science and International Relations (PhD)
The Department of Political Science and International Relations currently offers a Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree, which consists of coursework during the first six semesters followed by dissertation research and writing. Students earn an M.A. as part of their Ph.D. studies. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) at the time of matriculation to be eligible to apply to the Ph.D. program. The department does not currently offer a terminal M.A. degree.

Liberal Studies (MA)
The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) at the University of Delaware is an interdisciplinary graduate program that emphasizes broad thinking and exploration of significant questions from multiple perspectives. Courses are taught by faculty across the College of Arts and Sciences, breaking down traditional departmental barriers.
