Master of Music in Composition
Develop your creative and research interests in a collaborative environment!
Pursue your composition projects at an advanced level, further refining the musicianship you have acquired and cultivated throughout your undergraduate studies. Collaborate with musicians and ensembles throughout the School of Music, where you will have many opportunities to present your music. Become a role model who inspires your undergraduate peers; you will have many opportunities to interact with undergraduate students, including, but not limited to, presenting your music in the Composition Seminar, helping undergraduates through TA opportunities, and even having your own composition students.
Competitive teaching assistantships and tuition funding are available.
Courses
Students are required to complete 32 credit hours (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of B or better) to be granted the degree Master of Music: Composition.

Materials and Methods of Research
Advanced Analysis and Interpretation (Music Theory)
Choral or Instrumental Conducting
Advanced Principles of Music Industry Practice
Recording and Media Techniques
Still Breathing: The University of Delaware Contemporary Music Ensemble
Advanced Private Study in Composition (4 semesters
Teaching Assistantships
Teaching assistantships for students pursuing the MM in Music Composition complement and enhance their graduate studies at UD. These assistantships typically involve administrative work for the Composition Studio, as well as teaching-related assignments. Appointments depend on course offerings and needs but have included both composition and music theory courses.
