A working PDP-11 (almost ... )

Hi everyone,

Just found out, in a casual hallway conversation, that there is in effect a
PDP-11 clone running practically in front of my eyes.

The entire NYTimes editorial system, it turns out, runs off something called
J-11, which is manufactured by ATEX (a big maker of editorial systems) but
is apparently based on the PDP-11 processor and understands the same
instruction set. No RSTS, unfortunately; it's a proprietary operating system

Have any of you ever heard of this J-11?

Anyway, I'm supposed to get a tour of it tomorrow. We'll see what it looks
like. (And if there's an 800-bpi magtape drive, by any chance ... )
