UD’s Center for Disabilities Studies hosts film screening and Access:Ability Scholars celebration
The University of Delaware College of Education and Human Development’s Center for Disabilities Studies (CDS) will host a screening of The Ride Ahead, a groundbreaking documentary about Samuel Habib’s transition to adulthood while living with a disability. The event will be from 4-6:30 p.m on April 14, 2025, at the Audion in the tower at STAR. Virtual participation is also available through Zoom.
After the screening, audience members are invited to participate in a Q&A with filmmakers Dan and Sam Habib to discuss the making of the film, the importance of authentic disability representation and the broader movement for disability advocacy.
As part of this special event, CDS will also celebrate the achievements of its graduating Access:Ability Scholars, recognizing their commitment to advancing accessibility and opportunity. The Access:Ability Scholars program allows UD students to expand their knowledge of disability through programming and mentoring, integrate academic and community experiences and engage with disability issues.
Screening accommodations at this free event include open captioning, audio description, embedded American Sign Language interpretation and accessible seating.
To participate in-person or virtually, register through the following link by April 7, 2025: cds.udel.edu/therideahead.
