UD’s Lab School hosts national professional learning conference on nature-based education
In celebration of its 90th anniversary, the University of Delaware College of Education and Human Development’s Lab School will host the prestigious In Bloom conference in partnership with Antioch University. The event will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 26, 2025, at UD’s Newark campus.
In Bloom is a national professional learning event for teachers and administrators in early childhood and elementary settings who are interested in fostering children’s development through outdoor, nature-based activities. The conference offers expert presentations, interactive workshops and networking opportunities.
This year’s event features keynotes from Meghan Talarowski, founder and executive director of Philadelphia’s Studio Ludo, and Rachel Tidd, author of Wild Learning: Practical Ideas for Bringing Teaching Outdoors. Lab School teachers Kristen Chandler, Amanda Lala, Katie Pollock and Alexis Washofsky will lead workshops on designing nature-based activities for all children based on their interests and displaying children’s learning creatively.
“We are honored to once again collaborate with leaders in the field of nature-based education,” said Dorit Radnai-Griffin, Lab School director. “Bringing this conference to our community in previous years has proven impactful and beneficial to children and educators. We look forward to engaging with new and returning attendees this year.”
As the Lab School celebrates its 90th anniversary, the hosting of In Bloom reflects the school’s dedicated service to young children and those studying early childhood education. In 2017, the school began its nature-based preschool program and became a leader in the field.
