March 03, 2025
University of Pennsylvania, Maryland professors to present on building bridges between theory and practice
Join the University of Delaware’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) for a colloquium with Janine Remillard, professor in the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, and Meghan Comstock, assistant professor in University of Maryland’s College of Education, on March 5, 2025, from 1:50 to 2:50 p.m. in room 205 Willard Hall Education Building.
Together, Remillard and Comstock bring expertise in mathematics education and K-12 instructional and organizational policies. Remillard studies mathematics education and classroom practices. Her research focuses on how teachers learn and change their teaching and how they use curriculum materials and other instructional tools.
Comstock’s research centers on how K-12 instructional policies and organizational conditions shape equitable educational opportunities for minoritized students. She studies the implementation of equity-oriented K-12 education reforms related to teaching, leadership and cultural responsiveness.
Their colloquium is titled “Conceptualizing Research: Building Bridges Between Theory and Practice.” It is part of a yearlong series hosted by CEHD’s School of Education. Speakers both internal and external to UD share their research and engage with faculty and students.
The colloquium is free and open to the public. Audience members are also welcome to participate in a discussion with the speaker following the colloquium.
