Cerros and Savannahs: A Study Abroad Art Exhibition

Department of Art and Design invites you to view student works from Chile, Tanzania

Join the University of Delaware Department of Art and Design for an evening of art, music and global perspective celebrating the transformative power of studying abroad at UD.

"Cerros and Savannahs" will be held at the Perkins Student Center on Wednesday, April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., and includes live music by students Alejandro Lobo and Robert Strauss and Colin Miller, director of Global Arts.

Sponsored by the University Student Centers, Department of Art and Design, School of Music  and the Center for Global Programs and Services, "Cerros and Savannahs" presents a diverse collection of photography, printmaking and mixed media pieces inspired by two distinct yet equally compelling environments.

In Chile, under the guidance of Associate Professor Aaron Terry, students explored the Andes Mountains, Santiago’s metropolitan culture and Valparaíso’s vibrant coast. Their works reflect the region’s artistic, historical and political narratives, shaped by Spanish, Andean and Basque influences.

In Tanzania, Associate Professor Jon Cox led students through highland forests and the Serengeti, engaging with Maasai, Iraqw and Hadzabe communities. Their documentary photography highlights the deep connections between culture, conservation and storytelling.
