Annual benefit sale features deciduous azaleas, salvias and much more

The University of Delaware Botanic Gardens (UDBG) invites the public and the University community to shop at the UDBG Annual Spring Benefit Plant Sale from Friday, April 25, from 3 to 6 p.m., through Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Now in its 33rd year, this sale features more than 500 plant varieties, including trees, shrubs, perennials, houseplants, herbs and veggies.

The 2025 featured woody plant category is deciduous azaleas. The sale boasts over a dozen different varieties including the beautiful native flame azaleas and sweet azaleas. UDBG is also highlighting a wide variety of hardy salvias (ornamental sage). These fragrant, deer-resistant perennials boast spikes of flowers throughout the late spring and summer in shades of white, red, yellow, pink, purple, lavender and blue.

Your plant sale purchases directly support the gardens and programs, enabling UDBG to provide year-round resources that cultivate engaging and experiential relationships between people and plants. Over the last three decades, this sale has continued to grow, and so has its impact and audience.

The UDBG Annual Spring Benefit Plant Sale is an in-person event. Held annually on campus (211 Roger Martin Lane, Newark, Delaware 19716), the sale kicks off University of Delaware’s Ag Day, one of UD’s most popular community events.
