Cynthia Rosenzweig presents in the 2025 Donald L. Sparks Distinguished Lectureship
On April 10, join the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources for the 2025 edition of the Donald L. Sparks Distinguished Lectureship in Soil and Environmental Sciences. This year’s speaker is Cynthia Rosenzweig, senior research scientist, NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and adjunct senior research scientist at Columbia Climate School.
Rosenzweig will address “Climate Change and the Global Harvest” with a focus on how climate change affects agriculture and food security.
The discussion will detail the impacts of rising global temperatures, altered precipitation patterns and increased carbon dioxide levels on crop yields and agricultural productivity. Rosenzweig will examine potential adaptations and strategies for mitigating the adverse effects of climate change on agriculture, emphasizing the need for interdisciplinary collaboration in climatology, agronomy and economics. Additionally, the lecture highlights the importance of global cooperation and policy changes to ensure sustainable food production in the future.
The lecture, which begins at 3 p.m., will take place at the Ammon-Pinizzotto Biopharmaceutical Innovation Center. A reception from 4-5:30 p.m. will follow the lecture.
