Tournament features champions from past seasons
Roger Craig, a University of Delaware alumnus from Arlington, Virginia, is competing in the finals of the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament (JIT), starting Wednesday, March 5. (Locally, the top-rated quiz show airs on 6ABC in Philadelphia, weeknights, at 7 p.m.)
Craig first appeared on Jeopardy! in 2010 when he was a doctoral student in UD’s Department of Computer and Information Sciences in the College of Engineering. At the time, he was the third highest winning contestant in the quiz show’s history, and he earned what was then the highest one-day total. He is also a 2011 Tournament of Champions winner, 2014 Battle of the Decades second runner-up and 2019 All-Star Games participant.
"It's always a pleasure being invited back to the Jeopardy! Stage, and I had yet another wonderful time competing against a bunch of amazing players,” Craig said. “A few things about this trip reminded me of the first time I went out there, way back when I was finishing up grad school at UD. Sending positive energy to everyone in Newark and Blue Hens everywhere."
The Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament has featured 27 fan favorite champions from past seasons, competing on the Alex Trebek Stage for a $150,000 grand prize and an invitation to participate in the upcoming 2025 “Jeopardy! Masters.”
For the finals, Craig is competing against Matt Amodio and Juveria Zaheer. The first player to win two games will be crowned the JIT champion.
Now in its 41st season in syndication, Jeopardy! has a weekly audience of more 20 million viewers, making it the top-rated quiz show on television.
