UD Community Music School offers music classes for infants - adults

UD music majors, faculty teach music classes to infants - adults
A new semester brings new experiences for all university students, but especially so for UD School of Music students who work for the Community Music School (CMS). Through CMS, UD students get paid, professional teaching experience while they are still students themselves. These opportunities allow students to apply the “textbook knowledge” learned in academic classes to real-life teaching scenarios.
Amenah Ghani, ‘26, a junior music education major and CMS teacher, said, “CMS has offered me invaluable teaching experience and professional growth. The staff is incredibly kind and supportive, and the positive, welcoming environment makes it a joy to work here. It has definitely been one of my favorite parts of my college experience!”
UD faculty and local working professionals also lead classes, providing a mentorship experience for the college students. Of course, it’s not just the University personnel who benefit. The enrolled students' music interests get enriched in a fun and inclusive environment.
On the schedule for the spring are
- Sweet Beats (an elementary music, movement and instrumental class)
- Broadway Kids and Broadway Jr. (musical theatre classes, grades two through nine)
- Ukulele Ensemble (grades three through eight)
- Music for Young Minds (infants - age 6)
- Digital Music (grades six - adult)
- Music Theory (online, varying ages)
- Blue Voices and Gold Voices (vocal ensembles, grades one through three and four through eight)
- The Hentatonix (high school a capella)
- Private Study (1:1 lessons)
Classes start in early February so register soon. Summer Camp 2025 registration is also open and filling quickly. When you support CMS, you not only support your or your child’s music interests, but you also support the next generation of music educators.
