Library, Museums and Press launches new digital collections portal

New digital collection portal powered by the Quartex platform

The University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press announces the launch of its new digital collection portal, now powered by the Quartex platform. This significant upgrade marks the transition of numerous digital collections hosted on the JSTOR platform to Quartex. The migration of remaining collections will continue over the next three months, ensuring a seamless transition for users and researchers.

Quartex is a state-of-the-art digital platform already used by leading academic institutions offering powerful search features that allow researchers to refine queries and easily explore collections. In addition, Quartex includes a robust exhibition feature, providing an exciting opportunity for student curators to showcase their work and engage with a broader audience.

This change introduces an exciting new opportunity for Museums, as researchers from outside the University of Delaware will now be able to explore these collections for the first time. The strengths of the Museum's digital collections include a rich array of works from various fields, such as American art with notable collections of African American and indigenous art, photography, European printmaking and sculpture. Digital collections hosted on the University's institutional repository, UDSpace, will remain unaffected by this transition.

Annie Johnson, associate university librarian for publishing, preservation, research and digital access, emphasized the importance of this transition: “We serve a global community of researchers through the open availability of our digital collections. Quartex will help us better promote and share our unique holdings, and we look forward to seeing how these collections are used by students, faculty and the public in new and innovative ways.”
