Fostering Leadership: UD Convening for Character Development
January 07, 2025
Shaping tomorrow’s leaders
The University of Delaware is set to host the inaugural UD Convening on Character Development on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Audion in the Tower at STAR. This event aims to unite key campus stakeholders—including faculty, staff, administration and student leaders—to advance initiatives focused on undergraduate character development. Registration is requested. Visit the event webpage for information on registration and agenda.
The agenda is structured around three pivotal themes that emerged from prior consensus discussions:
- Definitional Consensus: Establishing a shared understanding of character development within the university context.
- Assessing Character: Exploring effective methods for evaluating character growth among undergraduates.
- University Coordination: Enhancing collaboration across the institution to support character development initiatives.
This convening reflects UD's commitment to fostering holistic student development by integrating character education into the undergraduate experience. By bringing together diverse campus voices, the event seeks to create a unified approach to nurturing the personal and ethical growth of students, preparing them to be conscientious and responsible leaders in society.
Participants can anticipate a series of sessions, panel discussions and workshops designed to facilitate dialogue and actionable strategies. The collaborative environment will encourage the sharing of best practices and the development of innovative approaches to character education. For a detailed agenda, please visit the event webpage.
The UD Convening on Character Development is possible due to a Capacity-Building grant from the Educating Character Initiative in the Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest University.
