Due to a wintry mix in the region, UD has made alterations to its operations and academic instruction

Due to a wintry mix arriving in the region during the early morning hours that may result in potentially hazardous driving conditions, the University of Delaware’s Newark campus — and other UD locations in New Castle County — will open at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6. Essential personnel should report to work as scheduled.

UD Facilities staff will work during the morning to treat campus parking lots and sidewalks impacted by icy conditions.

Instructors of classes scheduled to meet before 10 a.m. should communicate with their students in these course sections, as these sessions may convene virtually or be canceled at the instructor’s discretion. University offices will open at 10 a.m. Non-essential employees who need to adjust their work schedules or work remotely on Thursday should communicate with their supervisors to make necessary arrangements.

Residence Life and Housing staff, and other essential services, will be available to students. Regarding Student Wellbeing, patients with appointments prior to 10 a.m. at Student Health Services, Sports Medicine and the Center for Counseling and Student Development will be contacted to reschedule. Utilize the UD Hotline and other resources to access after-hours and 24/7 medical- and crisis-care support.

Members of the University community are reminded to use caution while driving or navigating campus.

Schedule updates

The Carpenter Sports Building; the Morris Library; the Student Centers; and Student Wellbeing at Warner Hall will open at 10 a.m. Information about any additional closings or schedule changes will be posted on UDaily.

Personal safety

Safety is UD’s highest priority. Faculty, staff and students should not put themselves at risk, and employees who expect difficulty traveling should contact their supervisors.
