'Unseen American Dream'

UD alum-produced documentary premieres in Delaware

A May 2, 2025, film premiere at The Screening Room at 1313 in Wilmington features several UD alumni. Anthea Piscarik, a Wilmington-based writer and 1996 graduate, is the film’s producer, and filmmaker John Morgera, a 2010 graduate, is the film’s camera operator.

Kris Heist, who graduated from UD in 1991, and husband, Gary Pizzola, are among the estimated more than 1 million adults living with blindness in the United States. Unseen American Dream follows the couple in 2013 as they raise their twins Kelly and Sean, then 8 years old, facing challenges with resilience and determination.

The documentary is a finalist for Best Documentary Short, Best Direct (Male) and Best Editing for the 2025 Independent Shorts Awards.
