On April 11, play, design and explore how games can educate and motivate social change.
On Friday, April 11, the Mangone Climate Change Science and Policy Hub, eSports Arena and Board Game Club are joining forces to host Climate Games Day—a full-day event packed with gameplay, creativity and climate action. The event is part of Worldwide Climate Education Week.
Join us all day at the eSports Arena to play climate change and social impact games that test your survival skills and convey real-world impacts of climate change. If you prefer cardboard to keyboards, join a board game session where you can negotiate energy transitions, adapt to rising seas or just build a wind farm before your friends do.
Looking to create your own environmental game? Daria Kluver, from the Center for Learning through Games and Simulations and the nation’s only academic board game press, is hosting workshops on April 10 and 11 where participants will prototype games, explore persuasive game mechanics and brainstorm interactive puzzles for a potential climate escape room. This event is ideal for game design students, climate and environmental students, educators and anyone who loves games or wants to explore how they can be powerful tools for pro-environmental behavior and social change.
Whether you’re building, playing or just spectating, Climate Games Day is your chance to geek out and save the planet.
