The University of Delaware's largest annual day of giving and gratitude is Wednesday, April 30. Since 2018, I Heart UD Giving Day has generated more than $5.8 million for hundreds of UD causes and programs. For this year’s event, UD students, faculty, staff and alumni have organized more than 200 projects, creating opportunities for Blue Hens to support the causes that matter most to them. 

“Every year, I Heart UD Giving Day offers the clearest example of our community’s Fightin’ Blue Hen spirit,” said Jim Dicker, vice president of Development and Alumni Relations. “These causes benefit everyone on our campus and beyond, and our project leaders do an incredible job of promoting these opportunities and making sure there’s something for everyone.” 

This year’s event features more fundraising projects than ever before. From scholarships and student support, to varsity athletics and club teams, to experiential learning opportunities, to Registered Student Organizations and community outreach programs — this year’s projects ensure everyone has a cause to support. To accelerate these vital causes and programs, dozens of generous Blue Hens have sponsored challenges and matching gifts, allowing donors to make an even greater impact for their favorite projects. 

“These are great opportunities to extend our reach even further,” Dicker said. “It’s about coming together to show the world that every Blue Hen is fightin’ for something. Every gift, big or small, can inspire others, and that’s when real change starts to happen.” 

Students, faculty and staff on the Newark campus are invited to celebrate I Heart UD Giving Day on The Green from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with food, prizes and lawn games, plus a special donor experience.
