What is Walktober?

Walktober is a fun and motivating activity challenge that encourages individuals of all fitness levels and abilities to get moving. Whether you prefer leisurely strolls or brisk power walks, this challenge is designed for everyone. The goal is simple: accumulate as many steps or “points” for activities like swimming, yoga and strength training, as possible across four weeks, either on your own or as part of a team of 4-10 people. For extra motivation, invite your colleagues and household members to participate with you.

Why join Walktober?

Health Benefits: Walking can lead to significant health improvements, from increased cardiovascular fitness to reduced stress levels.

Community and Camaraderie: Joining connects you with a community of UD participants through the app and its message board where you can share tips, photos and inspiration.

Flexibility: You can walk almost anywhere, with no extra equipment, at your own pace. Use the app to convert physical activities like swimming, strength training and yoga into steps.

Registering for Walktober is a breeze. Visit the link at the bottom of this article, select “register” and use your UD email address to sign-up. Participation is open to faculty, staff, retirees and household members ages 13 and over at no cost. Don't miss this fantastic opportunity, the challenge starts on Oct. 1.
