UD Lerner hosts Oct. 25 workshop by leading expert Paula Jarzabkowski, University of Queensland
Are you working with messy qualitative data in your research? Are you considering doing so and want to learn more?
The Lerner College's Department of Business Administration, Management Area invites you to join this workshop with leading expert Paula Jarzabkowski, professor of strategic management, University of Queensland, on Oct. 25 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Lerner Atrium.
With extensive experience in publishing qualitative research, Jarzabkowski will demystify the processes of transforming rich, messy qualitative data into a cohesive first paper submission. Jarzabkowski's work focuses on the practice of strategy and markets within complex, pluralistic settings. She is internationally recognized for her ethnographic research, which spans diverse industries, including insurance, reinsurance and higher education.
The session offers tips from collecting field data to theorizing about the data. Participants will explore the how and why of writing a thick description, early first coding, how to move codes to more thematic categories and get behind the labels of inductive and abductive coding to what doing them means in practice.
To make the most of this session, considering reading in advance:
