Colloquium on equitable and inclusive mathematics instruction

UD’s School of Education hosts University of Pennsylvania Senior Lecturer Caroline Ebby
Join the University of Delaware’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) for a colloquium with Caroline Ebby, senior lecturer in University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, from 1:50-2:50 p.m., Oct. 30, in Room 205 of the Willard Hall Education Building.
Ebby’s research focuses on teaching mathematics in ways that are responsive to student thinking, the use of learning trajectories to enhance the assessment process, early mathematics teaching and learning and the development of K–8 mathematics instructional leadership. As a senior researcher at the Consortium for Policy Research in Education, she also conducts research-practice partnerships focused on improving teacher knowledge and mathematics instruction.
Ebby’s colloquium, titled “Using Learning Progressions to Enhance Equitable and Inclusive Mathematics Instruction,” will focus on the development of a set of mathematical learning progressions designed to inform and enhance equitable mathematics instruction. She will also present findings from a decade of research on teachers' use of these progressions in grades K-8, including the impact on teacher knowledge, curriculum use and student learning, as well as the challenges of implementation.
Ebby’s colloquium is part of a yearlong series hosted by CEHD’s School of Education. Speakers both internal and external to UD share their research on a range of educational issues and engage with faculty and students.
The colloquium is free and open to the public. Audience members are also welcome to participate in a discussion with the speaker after the colloquium.
