The Department of Theatre and Dance invites the UD community to experience a new take on a perennial holiday tradition with Jazzy Nut! on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7. 

Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker premiered in Saint Petersburg, Russia, more than 100 years ago, and in 1960 Duke Ellington recorded The Nutcracker Suite, featuring a jazz interpretation of the classic tale.

This exciting undergraduate dance production is set in New Orleans during the height of the Jazz Age and follows Lena and her friends as they jump, jive and slide through a toe-tapping adventure.

Patrons can also support this production and the Department of Theatre and Dance on GivingTuesday, helping to offset production costs and provide high impact learning experiences for students.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 6, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m., Dec. 7.
