UD Police arrest a man who is unaffiliated with the University and charge him with assault and resisting arrest
University of Delaware Police have arrested a 34-year-old man who is unaffiliated with the University and charged him with two felony-level offenses.
Newark Police responded to the city’s East Main Street at approximately 2:26 p.m. on Nov. 19 following a report of an assault that had occurred minutes earlier.
A man meeting the available description — later identified as Khiry Karim, 34 — was stopped by Newark Police and University of Delaware Police. Karim physically resisted arrest and, during an altercation, bit a UD Police officer on the wrist. Karim and the officer were transported to Christiana Hospital for treatment.
UD Police charged Karim with two felony offenses: resisting arrest and second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer. Arraignment of Karim will be coordinated upon his release from Christiana Hospital.
