Comments on UDPD’s compliance with the highest standards are welcome as part of its reaccreditation
The University of Delaware Police Department, as part of its commitment to the accreditation process since 2007, reminds the University of Delaware community of the availability of a Public Comment Portal to provide feedback on the agency’s ability to maintain its accredited status through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).
Participation in the accreditation process is part of UD Police’s voluntary engagement in a program that ensures the maintenance of law enforcement accreditation by verifying the department’s compliance with professional standards.
Administered by CALEA, the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. CALEA maintains a Public Comment Portal that allows for comments with regard to candidate agencies seeking initial accreditation or reaccreditation status. The purpose of the CALEA Public Comment Portal is to receive comments regarding an agency's compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status.
The University of Delaware Police participate in the Law Enforcement and Communications Center accreditation programs. Please note that this portal is not for submitting information about current investigations or reporting an incident if you are experiencing an emergency please call 911. To utilize the CALEA Public Comment Portal, please visit the University of Delaware Police website, or follow this link https://cimrs2.calea.org/434
Important: CALEA is not an investigative entity; therefore, the public portal should not be utilized for submitting information intended for such purposes. Additionally, submissions will only receive acknowledgment without any subsequent response; however, the information provided will be considered within the context of its relevance to standards compliance and the principles of CALEA® Accreditation.
