The Graduate College, in collaboration with the Research Office, will continue its Mentorship Excellence Initiative in 2025 to foster a supportive and effective mentoring culture at the University of Delaware. Faculty members who participate in this professional development opportunity will enhance their mentoring skills and contribute to the academic and professional success of UD’s graduate students.

In January 2025, the Graduate College will host two key workshops:

  1. Mentorship 101 Workshop: Jan. 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This virtual workshop covers essential mentoring skills. It is ideal for those new to mentoring or looking to refresh their foundational skills.
  2. Mentorship 102 Workshop: Jan. 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Following the introductory session, this workshop delves into specific topics that build upon the foundational content covered in Mentorship 101.

In addition to the January workshops, the Graduate College will offer further mentorship events in spring 2025, including the Culturally Aware Mentorship (CAM) Workshop. This session, tailored for those who have previously attended mentorship workshops, will focus on developing culturally responsive mentoring practices.

Completing the Mentorship 101 Workshop or a previous mentorship workshop is a prerequisite for attending the Mentorship 102 Workshop, CAM or other advanced activities in this initiative.

Faculty members interested in participating in these workshops are encouraged to register early:.https://delaware.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0qFkrNtqSUUS7oW.

For any questions regarding the Mentorship Excellence Initiative, contact LaRuth McAfee, Graduate College senior assistant dean, at mcafee@udel.edu. Additionally, faculty are encouraged to review these general resources on mentorship.
