Doctoral student earns research honors

Abdullah Al Raqibul Islam places third in ACM competition

Doctoral student Abdullah Al Raqibul Islam earned third place in the Graduate category of the ACM Student Research Competition at SC24, held in Atlanta, Georgia, from Nov. 17–22. SC, the international conference for high-performance computing, networking, storage and analysis, is the field’s largest event and attracted more than 18,000 researchers, practitioners and industry leaders to share and explore cutting-edge innovations. His adviser is Associate Professor Dong Dai in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences.

The award-winning poster focused on improving SpGEMM performance, a critical computational kernel widely used in scientific and graph-related applications. This research is a collaborative effort among the University of Delaware, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Georgia Tech and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
