In early September 2024, IT Security will be launching the Phish Alert Button (PAB) through our security awareness and phishing platform, Knowbe4. The PAB will be enabled for both Gmail and Exchange and will provide users a quick and safe way to report suspicious emails.

What is the Phish Alert Button (PAB)?

The PAB allows you to easily report a potential phishing email via your Outlook desktop or mobile application, Outlook on the web or Gmail/Gmail mobile application.

Clicking the PAB will forward the suspicious email to our IT Security department for review and remediation. It will also provide reporting metrics and automatically remove the suspected email from the user's inbox to prevent future exposure. Reported emails that are found to be legitimate may be restored to the user’s inbox.

You should report all suspected phishing emails using the PAB. You can still forward suspected phishing emails to reportaphish@udel.edu, but the PAB is easier to use and recommended as the first option for reporting. The PAB should NOT be used to report spam. Note that the button will only work in your @udel account email applications, not your personal accounts.

What does the Phish Alert Button look like?

The PAB will be deployed in your Outlook or Gmail client—you do not have to download or enable it.
