In Memoriam: Randy K. Bempong

Campus community remembers Dining Services team member

Randy K. Bempong, a cook and utility worker at Whitney Kitchen for Dining Services at the University of Delaware, passed away on Thursday, April 11. He was 32.

Campus colleagues reflected and shared the impact Mr. Bempong had on them:

Brian Schea, director of operations: "Randy was a very kind and genuine person. He was friendly with everyone he met and always strove to do his best in all he did.”

Elias Rivera, supervisor at Whitney Kitchen: “Sincere, kind and thoughtful are the three words that come to mind when I think of Randy. He was a pleasure to work with and get to know in the short time he was here in our Whitney family. His positive attitude and welcoming demeanor will be greatly missed.”

Randy K. Bempong

Mr. Bempong was a graduate of Glasgow High School and was attending Wilmington University, where he was studying computer graphic design. He was also a videographer and photographer who loved to capture the beauty of people and nature, and he enjoyed sharing his passion with family and friends.

He joined the Dining Services team at the University in 2023. Mr. Bempong worked with diligence and passion, leaving an indelible mark on all those who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

In honoring Mr. Bempong’s memory, his family invites all who knew him to attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, April 27, from 1–3 p.m. at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, located at 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, Del., 19702.
