Distinguished Professor Rudi Eigenmann Inaugural Lecture

UD Engineering professor will discuss current advances in high performance computing on Oct. 16

The University of Delaware College of Engineering invites the campus community to attend Rudi Eigenmann’s Inaugural lecture. The lecture, “High Performance Computing (HPC): A Scientific and Economic Weapon'', will take place on Monday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m. in Mitchell Hall. The lecture will feature a brief ceremony commemorating Eigenmann’s named professorship and refreshments for the event will be served starting at 5 p.m. in the DuPont lobby.

Eigenmann is a Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His core research interests include cyberinfrastructure design, programming methodologies, compiler optimization, and HPC evaluation. Some notable research initiatives of his include spearheading the DARWIN (Delaware Advanced Research Workforce and Innovation Network) project, designing comprehensive standards to measure the speed of HPCs and advancing parallelization technologies.

Eigenman has earned the title of Distinguished Professor through peer recognition as an innovator in computer engineering, his leadership on campus as interim chair of the Computer and Information Sciences Department in 2021-2022 and his excellent mentorship of UD students of all educational levels.
