The University of Delaware's largest annual day of giving and gratitude is on May 3! I Heart UD Giving Day has generated $3.5 million to support more than 400 UD causes and programs over the past five years. In its sixth year, I Heart UD Giving Day looks to support more than 150 fundraising projects led by students, faculty, staff and alumni.

“It only takes one person to bolster student- and faculty-led programs and learning opportunities that make the Blue Hen experience unique, memorable and impactful,” said Jim Dicker, vice president of Development and Alumni Relations.

I Heart UD Giving Day encourages giving to fundraising projects that range from favorite Registered Student Organizations to beloved Delaware Athletics teams and esteemed academic programs. Other projects are based on meeting the immediate needs of Blue Hens, including the Student Crisis Fund and Blue Hen Strong Fund. The full list of projects can be found at udel.edu/IHeartUD.

Challenges and matching gift opportunities add to the anticipation of I Heart UD Giving Day thanks to support from generous donors. For example, throughout the day on May 3, projects that have the most donors within an hour timeframe are rewarded with additional funds. “Gifts of any size can spark change, inspire generosity and accelerate progress,” Dicker said. “Today we amplify that potential by rallying all our supporters. The Blue Hen community comes together when it counts, and we are eager to see what UD can accomplish through the power of philanthropy.”

Students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate their love for UD on The Green from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with food, prizes, and games.
