August has arrived and the start of the 2023-24 academic year at the University of Delaware brings excitement and opportunities for students, faculty and staff on campuses in the state and those pursuing knowledge around the world.

Learning is the reason universities exist and UD fall semester classes start 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29. But a lot happens before then.

With so many students eager to start a new chapter in their lives and bring their beloved items to a University residence hall room, new student Move-in is spread over two days — Friday, Aug. 25 and Saturday, Aug. 26. New students will have been notified by email about their assigned day and time. Upper division students (rising sophomores, juniors and seniors) will move into their rooms on Sunday, Aug. 27 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Residence Life and Housing website has more information.

The Twilight Induction Ceremony is the official welcome event for new students and is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28 on The Green (central portion) in Newark. UD President Dennis Assanis, Provost Laura Carlson, prominent faculty and student leaders will welcome the crowd of first-year and transfer students.
