Blue Hens are bold. Resourceful. Pathologically curious, with a sense of purpose that serves them well in any corner of the globe.

The latest issue of UD Magazine, now online and in mailboxes, celebrates these distinct characteristics.

In the nation’s largest state, nearly 100 alumni are scattered across cities and islands, fjords and forest, bound by a shared appreciation for their college years, the period when, so many say, they became Alaska strong.

At the New York Police Department, Class of 2004 alumna Wendy Garcia works to create an impartial, transparent and discrimination-free environment for all members of the force and, by extension, the community.

On land — and space — UD Professor Qingwu Meng is reassessing the possibilities of plant life and growth via hydroponics, while introducing students to this emerging field. And in theaters, a new, UD-born musical explores an obscure World War II story, finding hope through the unifying, “soul-saving” power of music.

Additionally, a smaller, special edition UD Magazine celebrates the University’s impact on Delawareans of all ages.

The “Learning without Limits” issue, mailed to in-state alumni donors, highlights the various ways UD supports the local community at every stage of life, from providing a head start to the state’s youngest learners, to strengthening the teacher pipeline, to providing customized education and training to area business, to supporting adult education.
