Mobile app and kiosk allow for faster, easier checkout service

Contactless self-checkout options are now available in Morris Library, the Physics Library in Sharp Lab and the Chemistry Library in Brown Lab, making it faster and easier to borrow books.

University of Delaware students, faculty and staff can borrow books from these locations using the UD Library Self-Checkout app, which is available for free on iOS and Android devices. Once logged into the mobile app with their UDelNet ID, they simply scan the barcode on each book they want to borrow and select “finish” to check out.

In Morris Library, the UD community has an additional option: They can use the self-checkout kiosk, which is located across from the Help Center on the first floor. After tapping their UD ONEcard at the kiosk, individuals place each book they are borrowing on the accompanying RFID station, which scans the item and deactivates its security tag.

Those using the mobile app to borrow books from Morris Library also need to stop by the kiosk to deactivate security tags at the RFID station before the books can be removed from the building.
