Applications now open

DENIN accepting applications for its ACTIONS undergraduate research program

The Delaware Environmental Institute (DENIN) is now accepting applications for its Anticipating Threats to Natural Systems (ACTIONS) undergraduate research program.

ACTIONS, funded through the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), is a collaboration among the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center Environmental Laboratory and flagship universities in coastal states – the University of Delaware and Louisiana State University. This work will provide technology to inform Army Futures Command on the operational environment of soldiers in present and future terrain hazards.

The program will take place virtually or in person when feasible during the summer of 2022 beginning in June. In addition to completing an independent research project, interns participate in skill-building seminars on such topics as attending graduate school, research ethics and making a research presentation. Undergraduate interns will present their work during an end of summer research symposium, held in August. Interns also receive a stipend of $4,500.

Students can review specific projects being offered this year on the DENIN website at https://www.denin.udel.edu/students-page/denin-environmental-scholars/.

For more information about project ACTIONS internship program, contact Yolanda Williams-Bey at yolanda@udel.edu. To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume and unofficial transcription to Williams-Bey no later than 5 p.m. on March 18.
