Those who teach can submit a proposal through April 29, 2022
University of Delaware faculty members and instructors who are teaching an upcoming course are encouraged to apply for an Open and Affordable Teaching Materials grant, offered by the UD Library, Museums and Press.
The grants are designed to support course material affordability and to empower those who teach to transform their courses with open, free or existing Library-licensed materials.
There are four types of grants available.
Those who teach can apply for a $500 grant to enrich an existing small course (49 students or fewer) by incorporating open educational resources or Library-licensed materials into their teaching materials.
Teams of faculty who want to enrich a low-enrollment course (49 students or fewer) that is offered through five or more unique sections can apply for a grant that provides $600 per person.
Individuals or teams teaching multi-section courses can apply for a $1,500 grant to enrich a large enrollment course (50 or more students). Additional funds are available for teams working on course sequences or multi-section courses.
Individuals or teams can also apply for a grant of up to $1,000 to adapt an existing open educational resource to fit the needs of their course through substantial alterations, edits or remixing.
Proposals should demonstrate the project’s potential to result in significant cost savings for students, establish a plan for assessing the project’s success and show how the work can be sustained over time. A letter of support from the chair is required.
The deadline for proposals is April 29, 2022.
