REP productions starring Agatha Christie detective to stream online
The University of Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players (REP) professional theatre company continues its season of audio productions with two mysteries based on popular Agatha Christie short stories.
The first play in “The Poirot Mysteries” begins streaming online for free on Friday, March 26.
That play, “The King of Clubs,” is a newly adapted presentation written and directed by REP company member Michael Gotch. It features Christie’s beloved and idiosyncratic Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot.
As the play opens, the Oglander family is enjoying a quiet game of bridge in their drawing room when suddenly a woman, covered in blood, staggers in, with a cry of “Murder!” before she collapses. The woman, famous actress Valerie Saintclair, is the only witness to the terrible murder of her former partner Henry Reedburn.
The brilliant Poirot investigates, separating truth from lies and eventually revealing the murderer’s identity.

The second Poirot drama, “The Cornish Mysteries,” will begin streaming on Friday, April 23, concluding the REP’s current season.
In conjunction with “The Poirot Mysteries,” UD’s Library, Museums and Press has created an online exhibition about Christie’s detective, which can be viewed at https://exhibitions.lib.udel.edu/agatha-christies-poirot/. The exhibit includes images of playbills, book covers and DVDs and information about a documentary exploring Christie’s life, influences and work.
