Campus remembers offset press operator in University Printing
William “Billy” Pearson II of Pennsville, New Jersey, offset press operator in University Printing at the University of Delaware, died Jan. 24, 2021. He was 45.
Mr. Pearson had been employed at the University since April 2015.
“As University Printing’s offset press operator, Bill was responsible for printing everything from postcards to potential students, Admissions packets and brochures for UD Resident Ensemble Players to departmental letterhead and business cards,” said Michael Czerepak, manager of University Printing. “Bill had a keen eye for reproducing University of Delaware brand colors and took pride in his ability to do so. Bill was a great asset to University Printing.”
Jo Ellen Rathbun, assistant manager of University Printing, said, ““We were shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Bill. He always had a smile and loved talking about his kids and motorcycles. He will be greatly missed.”
Mr. Pearson was known as a kind, caring and forgiving man who loved his cats. A lifelong fan of Spiderman, he enjoyed playing guitar and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his children, Gabrielle Mae and William Gary; his former wife, Laura Applegate; his mother Cathy Arata and her fiancée, Wayne Mayer; his younger brother Francis Pearson and wife Shannon; sisters Tara Pearson and husband Vincent and Keri Santora and husband Ray; three nieces, a nephew; and many friends.
