News about Daily Health Questionnaire, Morris Library, Bookstore and upcoming town halls

Daily Health Questionnaire: Please note that students, faculty, staff and visitors are only required to complete the daily COVID-19 health questionnaire if they are coming to the campus that day or if they reside on campus. Those not planning to come to campus are not required to answer the questionnaire and can disregard the daily email. For more information on the questionnaire, testing, public reporting and general health and safety guidelines, go here.
Morris Library update: The Morris Library is open for UD students, faculty and staff only; you must have a UD ONEcard to enter the building. Additional changes this fall include required seat reservations, an easy-access pickup service for physical materials and new hours. Labor Day: Monday, Sept. 7, is Labor Day, and University offices will be closed. Since classes will be meeting this year on Labor Day, some offices needed to support students will be open. Employees with questions should contact Human Resources.
Limits on size of social gatherings: The city of Newark passed a temporary resolution on Aug. 24, 2020, limiting the size of gatherings at private residences in the city to 12 attendees for indoor events and 20 for outdoor events, including the residents of the home. Those found hosting or attending an unlawful gathering may be fined up to $500 and required to perform up to 20 hours of community service. Details of the ordinance may be found here.
UD Bookstore open to pick up online orders: The Barnes and Noble UD Bookstore is open for pickup of online textbook orders. Once an order is placed, students will receive a confirmation email, and, when it is processed and completed, they will receive an invoice listing available pickup dates. The Bookstore is following strict health and safety protocols: Face coverings are required to enter, and patrons will be physically distanced in lines. Only the entrance on Academy Street is open. Academic Affairs Town Halls for faculty and staff: Faculty and staff are invited to register for the next Academic Affairs Town Hall, scheduled from 1-2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 4. This week’s Town Hall will be moderated by Matt Kinservik, vice provost for faculty affairs, who will provide an academic update to include relevant information on health protocols and data. He will be joined by several presenters who will provide information about various campus resources for students:
- Dawn Berk, director, Mathematical Sciences Learning Laboratory (MSLL)
- Brad Wolgast, director, Center for Counseling and Student Development
- Avron Abraham – faculty director, Center for Academic Success and University Studies
- Jennifer Follett, director, Writing Center
To join the Zoom session, faculty and staff must register in advance here. Please submit questions in advance via this form to allow panelists time to gather answers and respond during the webinar. Faculty and instructional staff are encouraged to visit https://sites.udel.edu/provost/continuity/ for more information about the town halls, including the recordings of past presentations, and for specific resources for faculty regarding online teaching and classroom protocols.
Research: The next research town hall, presented by Charlie Riordan, vice president for research, scholarship and innovation, will be held from 1-2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14. Register here. The town halls are recorded and archived on this webpage.
Counseling and support are available: Students in need of counseling and support may call UD’s Center for Counseling and Student Development at 302-831-2141 or the UD Helpline, which is available at any time, day or night, for students feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed or otherwise in need of counseling. Students can call 302-831-1001 to get live counseling assistance 24/7. Additional information may be found at the center’s website. All UD employees, their spouses, dependents, parents and in-laws may access the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) by calling 800-343-2186 or visiting the program’s website. If using the website, UD employees should enter "State of Delaware" as the password.
