UD Parking Services announces changes

No change in parking fees for 2020-21

The University of Delaware Parking Services Department is maintaining fees for campus parking at the current rate for the 2020-21 academic year. There will be no increase for permits or hourly parking rates for the second consecutive year.

There are some changes in procedures for the 2020-21 academic year. The changes include:

• Resident student permits will be valid in Gray lots when classes and exams are not in session.
• Lot 52, University Courtyards will have permits available for commuting students.
• Hourly spaces in the parking garages will be reduced to create monthly permits during Fall semester.

In conjunction with the Sustainability Committee, Parking Services is updating carpooling and electric vehicle space parking.

The carpool program will have several changes:

— An updated definition: A carpool, for these rules and regulations, is defined as two or more people commuting together to campus in a single vehicle multiple days per week or two or more people commuting together to campus in a single vehicle per month if utilizing other alternative transportation means such as biking, walking, or mass transportation on a weekly basis.

— Virtual validations will be issued in lieu of printed hangtags for a second vehicle’s daily parking

The rules for electric vehicle space parking include:

— A vehicle will be required to be plugged in when parked in an electric vehicle space.

— Each space will have a 3-hour time limit to encourage turn over.

Event parking will not change and all requests must be made via the event form found online.

Registration for the 2020-21 academic year begins Aug. 3 online at the permit website. In-person sales will be limited during the fall semester due to social distancing. Beginning Aug. 24, 2020, only one person at a time will be permitted in the lobby, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Parking Services office, 147 Perkins Student Center.
