Overnight Lodges now open at Virden Center in Lewes

Safe social distancing available at the beach for UD community

This summer has been not like any other. To help members of the University of Delaware community and their families lighten the mood by considering a trip to the shore, Conference Services is reopening the Virden Center Overnight Lodges in Lewes, so that UD faculty and staff can safely take advantage of the remaining weeks of the summer by the shore.

These overnight lodges are COVID-compliant, and each of the 23 rooms has a private entrance, private bath and private screened-in porch -- with many overlooking the surrounding wetlands.

The Virden Center is situated just off the beaten path in historic Lewes, buffered by nature and offering the perfect distancing opportunity after enjoying a day downtown, shopping, boating or on the beaches.

Guestrooms are now only open to the UD community, and Conference Services offers highly competitive room rates and comforts like fresh linens, toiletries, coffee makers and TVs, plus mini-fridges and microwaves in select rooms. Choose from three configurations – king, two twins, or a queen and twin.

The expansive grounds also offer the opportunity to socially distance picnic with takeout from town or play a round of Frisbee before calling it a day.

Get additional details, review Conference Services’ safety protocols and send reservation requests by visiting the Welcome Back to Virden page, or by calling 302-645-4110.
